SICK is a highly innovative company. And we have to be, as the highly dynamic nature of the markets require solutions to be found at an accelerated pace. Intensive dialog with customers, universities and research institutes provides us with important impulses. And our internal start-ups are an additional innovation tool. Our high level of innovation is also reflected in our financial figures: The number of employees in Research & Development (R&D) throughout the Group further increased in 2023, helping to transform innovative ideas into marketable products. In the fiscal year 2023, we invested close to 12% of revenue in R&D activities - this corresponds to around 270 million euros. But we don't just develop for the sake of it, but rather concentrate on the technologies and solutions that give our customers added value. On the one hand, we focus on our core business, the sensor. At the same time, we utilize the possibilities of the digital and virtual world. The combination of sensor technology and artificial intelligence (AI) constantly allows for new innovations and is a topic that is already widely used in our solutions: more than 65% of the top launches in 2023 contain AI elements and are examples of good innovation speed.
