High-precision positioning at optimal speed as a function of the electronics modules via the pick-and-place system with the SICK DFS60 incremental encoder. The incremental encoders determine the conveyor belt speed required for controlling the pick-and-place system. In this application, incremental encoder DFS60 can be mounted either on the deflection roller or directly on the belt drive mechanism. Both mounting options have the disadvantage that a potential slip between the roller and the conveyor is not detected.A more precise measurement can be obtained with a measuring wheel encoder such as the DFV60. It consists of a DFS60 encoder, 2 measuring wheels and a spring-mounted arm, which takes the speed directly from the conveyor belt. The measuring wheel encoder system specifically adjusted for this requirement provides for slip-free speed monitoring on location. Through the free programmability of the line count, electronic interface and other functions of the DFS60, the highest flexibility is provided at maximum application.
